Despite everything, Peter can’t help but feel a twang of pity when he spots a forlorn Mand shuffling down the beach under a thundercloud, having been ejected from Beth’s memorial service. She has lost Belle, Ryan, the gym, all her money and all her friends, after all. He decides to make her day by bringing Ryan round personally and agreeing to come in for a coffee. Amanda is astonished and her hopes soar, thinking Peter might be fair game again. She fairly gallops round to his place when it’s Ryan’s home time, thanking him for dropping by. Peter shrugs and says they might as well be civil to each other. But that’s not enough for our Mandy. “I still care for you Peter,” she sobs. She wants him back for good. It’s a nice try, but Peter crosses his arms warily and sets her straight: “I don’t hate you but I could never love you again.”Jule proofJules is dragged back to Summer Bay with a police escort. He’s cross with Drew for telling everyone he sort of killed his girlfriend, but more angry with himself for being such a wimp. “You’ve got to stop acting like a tool,” Dan warns him, and offers to take the bad kid under his roof. Under the condition that he stops being a tool, of course. Drew pushes Jules to face his fears and speak to Lily in hospital. Unfortunately, on the brink of being discharged, Lily’s had a panic attack at the thought of going back to Cassie’s house and being treated like a paper doll. She’s decided to take control of her life and check into a shelter for broken pipe-cleaners.

After an emotional goodbye - “Cassie, you are the most important person to have ever come into my life” - the girls pass a distraught and hiding Jules in the corridor.

Dead woman walking

“Why are you looking at me like that?” Kelli demands of a haunted-looking Belle. Belle thrusts the photo of Kelli and Ethan canoodling on the pier in her face.

“How could you possibly judge me?” Kelli yelps indignantly, thinking fast. She claims she ran into Ethan who was hell-bent on getting more money out of Amanda.

Belle points out that Kelli doesn’t look very angry in the photo, with her lips puckered and all that, but Kelli covers her back by racing to Amanda’s house to warn her that Ethan’s back in town.

She’s managed to talk her way out of this one, but Kelli decides to accelerate her revenge plans. Amanda being broke and alone isn’t enough.

It’s time to drug her, get her behind the wheel and arrange a horrific accident. Cackle, cackle. She’s going to have to think fast though. Amanda’s decided to up sticks and leave the godforsaken Bay behind forever.
