Martha's rushed off her feet at the Surf Club and, with only Alf there to help her, wants him to get his driving licence organised ASAP.But when he does make it to the RTA, the outcome's as Alf feared: he fails the eye test. Determined not to agree to Martha's proposals of recruiting more staff, Alf leaves for the supply run anyway – but, without realising, nearly knocks down Sally in the process. When she finally catches up with him and tells him what just happened, poor Alf is forced to resign to his fate and hands over his keys. Is the Surf Club about to get a new pair of hands, after all? BlindsidedDespite Colleen's best attempts to convince him that there are better things he could be doing to keep his days occupied – "Well, you haven't looked at my septic system yet," she offers – Brad seems to be neglecting the world around him. Sally's worried that the endless waiting for the Education Department to make their decision as to whether or not they'll reinstate him is taking its toll. And soon the convictions have mounted up. Brad's forgotten to help Cassie prepare for her maths test, failed to notice Alf's personal issues, is unaware of Rachel's problems with Kim, and has neglected to fix Colleen's dodgy septic tank (we can’t understand why; it sounded so tempting the first time she asked). Sally eventually opens Brad's eyes to everything, and he promises to get his act together – starting with helping Colleen out with her rather sticky problem. Lovely.

Love on the rocks

After their startling confessions, it would be a gross understatement to say that Rachel and Kim's marriage was on the rocks.

They can't even talk to each other without it turning into a spat. "We have to find a way through this," Rachel insists. "Do we? Why?" Kim replies, echoing the thoughts of a nation. Having spent the day in the gym – turning away customers, choosing instead to throw dumbbells around the place – Kim fails to accept advice from Alf or Jack; he can't see how anything Rachel has done is worthy of his forgiveness.

It seems that Martha, however, unintentionally offers him the solution: "Go home, Kim, unless you've got somewhere better to be." It turns out he has.

While Rachel is sitting around waiting for him, and expecting him home any minute, it's Kit who gets the pleasure of him turning up on her doorstep.
