While Martha tries to cover up Jack’s visit of the night before when she’s quizzed by Michael, Jack enjoys less success keeping things from Sam. Despite his managing to impress the blushing bride-to-be by taking an active interest in the wedding preparations, the fact of Rory having overheard a heated discussion between him and Martha – during which she advises him not to go through with the marriage – is more than enough to cause a stir, with his resulting behaviour leading Sam to find out the truth. And when she turns up on Martha’s doorstep demanding an explanation, there’s nothing her rival can do or say to put a halt to Sam’s tirade of abuse. How dare Martha claim to have Jack’s best interests at heart when all along she was planning this? ‘Let’s stop pretending. We’re not friends and we’re never going to be,’ she snaps, as she promptly bans Martha from not only seeing the family but also attending the wedding. How will Jack react?Baring it allMeanwhile, Ric is faced with having to do yet another repair job on Viv’s car, and this time it’s her husband, Noel, who decides to pay him a visit. ‘Viv’s funny like that. She gets attached to things; she won’t let go,’ he explains, blissfully ignorant that it’s more a case of his wife being attached to the mechanic than to her run-down car. As if that weren’t enough to make Ric feel uncomfortable, Noel then proceeds to invite him and Matilda over for drinks that evening – and, even though the pair already have plans, he won’t take no for an answer. Unfortunately, Ric’s attempts at getting Viv herself to pull the plug on it all only make matters worse, with him accidentally spilling coffee all over her and then sending out all the wrong signals when he lets her use the garage as a changing room.

It’s later that evening as Ric, getting ready for his date with Mattie, is taking a shower that Viv decides to make another appearance – and she, too, is ready to bare all.
