The wedding day finally dawns, and despite Colleen's typically inappropriate warning that there are many bad omens surrounding this particular union, everything initially appears to be going to plan. In fact, as the girls assemble in a hotel suite to make their final preparations, they’re thankful to find that Sam has suppressed any bridezilla-like moments to become the essence of composure – until, that is, she goes to put her dress on and discovers that she’s been given the wrong one. ‘Martha is not even here and she has still found a way to ruin my wedding!’ she screams, scowling with disgust at the gown her rival once tried on. Naturally, to avoid the enraged Sam having to walk down the aisle wearing jeans, Tony is immediately relieved of his father-of-the-groom duties, which include calming Jack’s irrepressible nerves, and dispatched to pick up the replacement. But while he ensures it gets to the bride and with time to spare, there’s a much bigger threat to Sam’s happiness just around the corner…Speak now or forever hold your peaceMichael having reached the painful realisation that he’ll always have to play second best to Jack, Martha soon finds herself on her own once again when he decides to leave the Bay without her; nothing she can say will make him change his mind. It’s only after a chance meeting with Cassie, who pointedly explains that she’s determined to stand by her man no matter what people think, that Martha finally faces up to her feelings and realises what’s right for her: she’s got to come clean to Jack.

A mad dash to the chapel sees her arriving mid-service – which features the furious, hushed tones of Ric and Matilda, who has uncovered news of Viv’s pregnancy – but while she has time to call a halt to proceedings, doubt soon overcomes her.

Before she’s had the chance to pluck up the courage to speak, Sam and Jack are married. To make matters worse, her attempts to make a discreet and tearful exit are spotted by a horrified Sam and Tony. What now for the heartbroken Martha?
