Paul barely manages to drag Elle from what they assume is now a murder scene. Paul insists they stay calm and all will be well, but Elle can’t help finding out what happened to Oliver and Carmella. They’ve had a lucky escape and Elle begins to plan anew – undermining Carmella with a shocked and angry Oliver, while encouraging Carmella to confront Ray. When Oliver learns where Carmella’s gone, he’s furious – to Elle’s delight! Lou wants to boost Lolly’s self-esteem and thinks team sports might be the way to do it. He enlists Rachel and Ringo’s help, and, with Susan as Pepper’s reluctant replacement as referee, the basketball game begins. Lolly is miserably correct in her prediction of an unparalleled display of uncoordinated behaviour and loses the game by a country mile. Lou realises another tack may be required. Lolly counsels Ringo to win back Rachel with an outrageous story. Rachel doesn’t believe the tale for a minute, but is charmed nonetheless. When Paul finds Elle’s scarf at Ned’s flat, Ned manages to lie his way out of revealing their fling. Paul is chagrined – of course Elle wouldn’t go with Ned. Insulted, Ned calls Elle and lines up another dalliance!
