Susan is stung by Miranda’s rejection and continues with her belief that she must be punished for the accident. Karl, Zeke and Rachel are stunned that Susan still wants to maintain her guilty plea and Karl goes to Toadie for more advice. Karl’s day gets worse when a date for Susan’s committal hearing is set, and he discovers that Zeke and Rachel have skipped school. However, when he vents his frustration at them, it becomes clear they had good cause - they were commemorating their (dead) mother Francesca’s birthday. Karl and Susan feel awful, but hurt Rachel makes Susan’s guilt even worse – she asks Susan why she isn’t fighting the charges against her, aren’t she and Zeke worth fighting for? Susan finally gives in to the wishes of her family and agrees to her change her plea.Bridget’s determined to go back to school without her crutches. But when she tries to walk without them she falls. Humiliated, she tells Steve she’s not feeling well and will be staying home. Sympathetic Steve won’t push it but Rachel wants to get to the bottom of Bridget’s fear. Rachel assures Bridget that no one at school, particularly Declan will give her a hard time about the crutches but Bridget remains unconvinced. When Declan knocks at her door, Bridget’s fears win out and she leaves Declan frustrated on the doorstep. Frazer surprises Rosie with his new job – he’s a cab driver! While Rosie tries to remain supportive it’s clear she has reservations about Frazer’s new career choice. Frazer assures Rosie it’s just a trial, something he can do until he sorts out his future. Rosie has previously promised Frazer that she would support him in whatever career path he chooses but this is a dangerous job and her support will be a tough promise to keep.
