Sean Tully will gain a new love interest in Coronation Street, in the form of new-on-the-cobbles vicar Billy, played by Daniel Brocklebank.

The barman is to find romance after being unlucky in love, meeting the clergyman on a night out, but because of Billy's religious beliefs, the relationship isn't to run smoothly.

Stuart Blackburn, producer said: "It's about time Sean had a romance, he's been unlucky in love for a long time. Billy is a great guy, but his first love is and always will be God and the Church.

""We will be exploring this very modern relationship in the coming months and are delighted to have Daniel on board to play Billy."

Antony Cotton who plays Sean is excited for the storyline and can't wait for his character to date again.

He said: "I am thrilled that Sean is to find love again especially with this unique and exciting storyline. I'm sure it'll have its ups and downs, but that's what makes 'Coronation Street' great.

"Hopefully it will be tender, funny and honest. Heaven!"

Daniel can't wait to get onboard: "I'm really looking forward to working with Antony Cotton and the rest of the cast, as well as joining my best mate Hayley Tamaddon on the cobbles."

He'll begin filming his first scenes this October, making his first appearance in Weatherfield this December.
