Pauline McLynn is to join EastEnders in the recurring guest role of Yvonne Cotton - newcomer Charlie Cotton's mother.

First seen on screen visiting Dot Cotton in May, she'll be forced to answer questions from Dot who is demanding answers after making a surprising discovery about her grandson.

"It is a thrill to join EastEnders, my favorite soap, and in particular any chance to be part of a Dot Cotton storyline is not to be passed up - June Brown is a legend and i feel privileged to act with her." said the actress.

Dominic Treadwell-Collins, Executive Producer on EastEnders admits he's "always been a little in love with Pauline McLynn" and is "excited" for her to join the Cotton family.

"It was about time Albert Square had another Irish character and I know that viewers are going to both love and be intrigued by Yvonne Cotton”. he continued.
