HBO have surprised fans of True Detective with an all-new one-minute trailer for the second season of the anthology series.

Starring Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch in lead roles, the show this time round will be looking at a world of corruption within the California law enforcement and a murder investigation that'll push the four leads to their limits.

Director Justin Lin worked on the first two episodes of the season now that Cary Fukanaga isn't involved, but writer and showrunner Nic Pizzolato returns for the whole string of episodes.

With the tagline 'We Get The World We Deserve' being marketed by HBO, there's a focus on transportation with promotional material so far, which Pizzolatto pointed out would be a driving force behind the season, stating it's about: "hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system."

True Detective season two debuts Sunday, June 21 in America at 9/8c on HBO.
