Morrisons is to solve a dilemma for many vegans about what they should put in their daily lunch box.

One of the UK’s top 10 most popular sandwich fillers, tuna, is to be sold in a vegan version for the first time in a supermarket this week.

Currently available in the US & Australia, Morrisons is the first British supermarket to sell Loma Linda TUNO in the UK.

Made using soya protein and natural flavourings, the result is a flaky texture, which is much like the real thing.

The full range launches in Morrisons this week and can be found in the tinned fish aisle, offering vegan, vegetarian and flexitarian customers an alternative to tuna.

Robert Wilson, Morrisons Tuna Buyer said: “We have listened to so many customers who want an easy alternative to tuna, that’s high in protein and can be used in much the same way. TUNO provides a convincing alternative for sandwiches, pasta and salads.”

Thanks to its high protein count and 100 calories or less per serving, TUNO has already been a hit with heath conscious individuals in the States looking to boost their protein intake with clean, sustainable ingredients.

TUNO launches in Morrisons nationwide this week. Flavours in the range include; Spring Water, Lemon Pepper, Mayo, Sesame & Ginger and Thai Sweet Chilli and are available in 142g cans and 85g ‘on the go’ pouches.
