As Prime Minister Theresa May celebrates her 60th Birthday- there's no doubt she'll be receiving lots of presents. Among them are a pair vintage-inspired vegan court shoes to accent her iconic outfits.

The classic pair by Beyond Skin are made from black faux suede with a stiletto heel and a delicate jewelled strap.

PETA wanted to highlight the need to make Britain a more compassionate nation given that cruelty free materials are much kinder to the environment and of course- to the animals.

"Fashion is about more than looking good - it's also a statement about who you are and what you stand for", says PETA UK Director Elisa Allen. "We hope the gift will inspire her to choose compassion over cruelty when it comes to policies that affect animals."

PETA's motto reads, in part, "animals are not ours to wear" and is spreading the message that cows are killed for leather. They can suffer castration, branding, tail-docking, and dehorning, without pain relief, before they are skinned and dismembered alive.

The leather industry is not kind to the earth either, the tanneries can pollute nearby water supplies and expose workers to dangerous chemicals and the carbon emissions for the animals are also harmful.

Last year, PETA presented the Duchess of Cambridge with a vegan wool coat for her birthday and encouraged her to set an example to British women that they can still have style without hurting animals.
