Bananas. “Bananas, contain bromelain, an enzyme that can increase sex drive. They are also high in riboflavin (vitamin B2), great for energy production, and potassium which revs up the muscles!”

Avocados “They’re high in folic acid, which breaks down carbohydrate to   boost energy. Avocados also contain monounsaturated fat which is great for the heart. Plus, they’re rich in potassium and vitamin B6 which both boost male hormone production and energy.”

Herbal and fruit teas. “Caffeinated drinks stimulate adrenalin, one of our stress hormones, so these need to be avoided.”

Watermelon.  “And for very good reason!  Watermelon contains citrulline, a pre-cursor to the amino acid arginine, which encourages blood flow to the sex organs.”

Garlic. “Contains high levels of allicin, great for health, and also increases blood flow, which may help men with erectile dysfunction.”

Broccoli. “Rich in Vitamin C which aids blood circulation to organs. Broccoli has also been associated with an improved female libido.”

Figs. “They help to encourage good mood by stimulating serotonin release as well as being useful in a weight loss programme.”

Pumpkin seeds. “A great source of mood-boosting omega 3 fatty acids, which also help normalise hormone production.”

Rhodiola.  “It’s use as a herbal remedy dates back many thousands of years to the famous Greek physician Dioscorides. Rhodiola rosea is known to be an adaptogenic herb, meaning that it improves the body’s resistance to stress and illness and specifically helps to normalise sexual function.”

Choose a regulated Rhodiola product with the Traditional Herbal Remedy logo on the front of the pack. This indicates that it is independently assessed for quality and safety.

You can find Rhodiola online in the form of Vitano, which is available at www.vitano.co.uk for £9.90 and from Boots or Holland & Barrett, priced at £13.27.
