The Caped Crusader will be travelling across Britain in an eye-catching Batman-inspired mobile van, an alternative to the traditional Santa's grotto this Christmas.

Batman's journey started in Gotham, a small village in the East Midlands that is a far cry from the DC superhero's home city of the same name.

The superhero was greeted by children from Gotham Primary School and provided them with the special gifts as they were the first lucky fans to meet Batman.

The touring van is also set to visit Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds to give fans a festive taste of the World's Greatest Detective.

Batman and Santa have a number of similarities as they both live reclusive lifestyles, are used to being spotted on rooftops and are also capable of telling who's been naughty or nice.

The van is instantly recognisable with the iconic Bat-Symbol on the side and those who spot the hero will be able to see Batman's festive display – with Christmas decorations to fit the Dark Knight himself.
