Paterson City Fire Chief Brian McDermott revealed that the bird was spotted atop the building by a film crew working in the area.

The fire department shared images of crews using a ladder to reach the frightened parrot. McDermott added that the owner climbed up the building to retrieve his pet.

He said: "The bird just jumped on him and was visibly relieved."

Chief Animal Control Officer John DeCando said that the outcome of the rescue was perfect as the parrot was in good health.

He remarked: "You couldn't ask for anything happier. The bird was reunited with the owner and suffered no injuries."
