Police responded to reports after a tiger was spotted roaming the streets of Oldham but quickly discovered it was a huge misunderstanding.

The old bill were dispatched after a distressed member of the public called in On Monday March 2, claiming to see a tiger in the garden.

But when police arrived to the scene they quickly discovered that the tiger was in fact a stuffed toy, which has since been named Tony.

Making light of the situation, the GMP Oldham Facebook page wrote:

“Yesterday evening Oldham Police earned their stripes when they were contacted by a concerned member of the public of a Tiger loose in nearby gardens that appeared to be pawing in the grass.

"Officers arrived quickly and after evaluating the situation agreed it was in fact not a real animal but a toy - Tony The Tiger! Tony the Tiger was asked for a comment about Oldham police he said "They're grrrrrrrreat!" Tony is now safely booked into property at Oldham Police station.”
