the unsigned guide

In recent years there have been massive changes in the way the music industry works, and whilst the shift has thrown up many more opportunities for bands and artists trying to breakthrough, today’s music industry is more complicated to navigate than ever before.  Enter ‘The Unsigned Guide UK Edition 4’ with its established contact lists and road maps of the industry.

Back in 2003 Louise Dodgson launched an invaluable resource for unsigned bands wanting to break beyond their own localities.  Detailing a list of contacts in different areas of the music industry, The Unsigned Guide quickly became a bible for the unsigned and emerging sectors.

Now, in 2010 the guide has evolved even further and with UK Edition 4 ‘The Unsigned Guide’ has come of age.  There is more useful content than ever for anyone wishing to make it in the industry, and new contributors to both the guide and the website mean that there is now more essential ammo for those who are truly determined to break big!

As well as regular contributors Musicians’ Union, IFPI, PRS For Music and BPI, Edition 4 sees new contributions from Arts Council England, Soundcloud, BBC Introducing and much more including 2 brand new sections.

‘You and the Music Industry’ offers guidance and assistance in understanding how the industry works as well as advice on where to source help and funding, while another new section, ‘Music, Competitions and Awards’, highlights the best competitions to enter to win festival slots, TV appearances and even how to get music on to shows like ‘Hollyoaks’ and ‘Skins’!
