The 44-year-old entertainer briefly dated the late music legend, who was found dead in an elevator at his Paisley Park home on Thursday (04.21.16), until the early 1990s and has spoken of how much of a "blessing" it was to work with him.

The 'Purple Rain' hitmaker gave the glamour model and actress - whose real name is Tara Leigh Patrick - her stage name [Carmen Electra] and so, Carmen is thankful for him believing in her talents and says she will always love him, whilst referencing his song 'Sometimes it Snows in April'.

She said: "He gave me my name, he believed in me, and he has inspired an entire generation. I will always love him ... ' Sometimes it Snows in April.'"

Prince launched Carmen's brief music career by signing her to his Paisley Park Records label in 1991, and she says she was really "shocked" when she learnt of his death, but is thankful she got to work with the legend, who she described as a "truly incredible spirit and musical genius".

She told PEOPLE magazine: "I was so shocked and heartbroken to hear about the loss of my mentor.

"The world has lost a truly incredible spirit and musical genius. What a blessing it is to be one of the chosen ones who had the chance to work so closely with him."

The 'Scary Movie' star say she's so "shocked" he's passed away because he was "god" like.

She told E! News: "He always talked about life, not death. He was excited about music. But, back then he talked a lot about God, but not about religion. Prince was like a god. Maybe that's why I'm so shocked he's passed away."

The 57-year-old singer's ex-wife Mayte Garcia - who he married in 1996 - also paid her respects and said she was "beyond deeply saddened and devastated" by his death.
