Cate Blanchett was drunk when she accepted her Golden Globe Award.

The 44-year-old actress picked up the Best Actress prize for her role in Woody Allen's latest movie 'Blue Jasmine', but she admits she doesn't remember much about the ceremony earlier this month or accepting her trophy because it was given out so late in the evening.

She said: "Unfortunately my category came up rather late in the evening, so I was a couple of sheets to the wind.

"Once your name is read out it's a high like no other, so I can't remember a lot. I hope I didn't do too many things I regret."

The Australian beauty - who has sons Dashiell, 12, Roman, nine, and Ignatius, five, with husband Andrew Upton - is thrilled to have received the award and is taking it everywhere with her, along with a "shrine" created by her family.

Cate Blanchett has admitted she was drunk when she accepted her Best Actress Golden Globe, so doesn't remember too much about the ceremony.

She told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "The Globe is in the hotel room and my sons made a little shrine for it with all the flowers that I have been receiving for the past week that are now dead."

Cate - who also picked up Best Actress at the Screen Actors Guild awards and is tipped to take the same accolade at the Academy Awards in March - is delighted to have won awards because she is so "proud" of her performance and the finished movie.

She said: "Look, when you are proud of something you have done and you have made a film you feel has merit, and it's found an audience and is critically well received, that's a pretty pleasurable place to be. I mean, you don't want it gathering dust at the bottom of someone's DVD collection.

"It's a joy and I'm enjoying it immensely. Probably disproportionately and indecently so."
