The 42-year-old royal - who is married to Prince William and has Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and five-year-old Prince Louis with him - has been absent from public duties since January and announced on Friday (22.03.24) evening that she is battling a form of the disease.

But her maternal uncle, 58, - who competed in the UK reality series 'Celebrity Big Brother' earlier this month - revealed on X that whilst his "thoughts and prayers" are with his niece, he did an interview over a week ago and was not aware of the news then.

He said: As many will have seen, I am featured in Saturday's Times Magazine. This interview and shoot was done over a week ago and went to print before I was aware of the sad news regarding my niece Kate. "

The businessman added that his "thoughts and prayers" were with Catherine and her family, and that he is "deeply upset" at the timing of the article but is hoping that the news puts a stop to the "horrible conspiracies" that have flooded the Internet in the time that the princess has been away.

He said: "My thoughts and prayers are with Kate and the wider family at this difficult time and deeply upset at the timing of this article.

"I hope this draws a line over the continued speculation and horrible conspiracies.

"Let’s give Kate, William and the children time and show some love back."

Gary recently admitted that he sees more of Catherine's sister sister Pippa Middleton, 40, and her brother James Middleton, 36, and only checked in with his own sister Carole during the princess' recent spell in hospital.

Speaking on UK TV show 'Good Morning Britain', he said: "I've not spoken to Kate for ages ... years ... or maybe a year. Weddings and funerals, unfortunately. We don't really get to see them that often. Pippa, moreso, James, moreso. And my sister, I checked with when Kate was in hospital."

Earlier on in March, Gary took part in the ITV1 reality series 'Celebrity Big Brother' and was the first star to be evicted but did not return for the grand final on Friday evening following the news.

He said: "Following today's news, I will not be attending tonight's 'Celebrity Big Brother' final.

"I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my fellow Housemates and to everyone involved in the making of this brilliant show. I hope you all enjoy your special night'.
