Jessie J has blamed social media such as Twitter for killing romance.

The singer keeps her private life out of the spotlight for the most part but insists that if websites including Facebook were shut down, more people would get married.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan Magazine in the UK she said: "I think with Instagram and Twitter, romance has lost its way. It's all, 'Oh, I've got this girl but I could have another one and I can contact her directly right this minute.'

"If we lost technology for a year more people would get married."

She also noted that if she ever met somebody that loved revelling in the celebrity lifestyle, he'd be given the boot.

"Nobody that I'm with wants to be famous or be on a red carpet and if they do, then I don't want to be with them! I want you to have your own life and not be with me because of that."

Also admitting that she works hard to keep private things out of the spotlight, she's desperate for friends to treat her as they would anyone else.

"I think I've just come to terms with the way my life has changed. There are people that are always going to think that I've changed but I know I haven't.

"I've got the same people around me, the same best mates, and I'm not one of those people that hop to a different best friend every five minutes."
