The chart-topping singer and the American drag queen both star in the Bradley Cooper-directed movie, and Shangela has revealed she relished the experience of working with Gaga.

The TV star said: "She just makes you feel so at home and ready to do your best work. And then, when you see her and she's such a professional but also so kind, it makes you even want to do better."

The duo spent time together in between takes, and Shangela has revealed that Gaga was happy to give her some make-up tips.

She told E! News: "One thing that Gaga taught me was less about make-up and more about how to be just natural through the make-up - really allow your talent to shine through, no matter what you're doing.

"So, that's one thing I picked up from her."

And Shangela, 36, was happy to return the favour for Gaga.

She said: "Now, from me to her, I'm like, 'Oh sister! Let's get a little extra highlight over here on the side,' - because you know I like to pop that cheek out."

As well as developing a friendship with Gaga, Shangela was also impressed with her acting skills.

Gaga plays Ally, an unknown singer, in the musical romantic drama.

Reflecting on Gaga's performance, Shangela said: "She's quite the professional, but I think the true Gaga - the magic of Gaga - is she knows how to dive into any element and really just be comfortable in her own skin.

"I think that's how she was as the character Ally because, you know, Ally is someone who is aspiring towards her dream but she doesn't always have the biggest self-confidence and when Gaga went into that role, in working with her, it felt like she really just took that on."
