Michelle Pfeiffer has revealed that she was once part of a 'very controlling' cult.
The actress was part of the cult during the early part of her career - a cult that believed that humans could live without food and water.
And while Pfeiffer admits that she never lived with them she says she was under pressure to make that commitment.
Pfeiffer said: "They were very controlling. I wasn't living with them but I was there a lot and they were always telling me I needed to come more.
"I had to pay for all the time I was there, so it was financially very draining."
Pfeiffer said that she only realised that she was part of a cult when she was helping Peter Horton - her now ex-husband - research one of his movies.
She recalled: "We were talking with an ex-Moonie and he was describing the psychological manipulation and it just clicked."
Pfeiffer is back on the big screen later this month as she teams up with Robert De Niro for The Family.
