The San Francisco Giants last night honoured Robin Williams.

The late actor was known to be a huge fan of the baseball team and so, ahead of their World Series game against Kansas City Royals, Robin's children Cody, Zelda and Zak along with Billy Crystal were invited onto the AT&T Park playing area.

Zak threw a pitch to Billy who stood at the home plate, as a visual montage of Robin's movies and pictures of him with Giants stars was shown on the stadium's big screens.

In a statement his children said: "We are honoured to be here in tribute to our father, someone who loved his hometown and especially the Giants.

"For all of us, it is a tremendous delight and a little surreal to throw out the ceremonial first pitch of a World Series game for our team to our dad's best friend. We could not think of a better way to celebrate his memory. Let's go Giants!"

Billy later spoke to fans and said that he had a "great night" at the game, tweeting: "Great nite at WS in SF. Caught first pitch strike thrown by Zak Williams Robins son.Fans showered him with love. (sic)".

The Giants went on to beat Kansas City Royals with a score of 11-4.
