To dream about a pier and its meaning depends on what was on the structure.

If the pier was filled with arcades and restaurants and was a hive of activity, perhaps you yearn for more socialisation and buzz in your waking hours. Even more so if you have been deprived of this for some time.

On the flipside, if the buildings on the pier were all boarded or smashed up, have you felt a huge loss in your social circle or have relationships that were fun to be part of been damaged?

Cast your mind back to your childhood- was a pier such as this a consistent form of entertainment on holidays or weekends? If so, perhaps you need to take something from this time and apply it to the here and now.

Are you depriving yourself of fun? Maybe you need to inject a little more laughter and lightheartedness into your life.

To look out to a calm sea from the end of a pier implies that things are settled right now and not to take this state for granted.

On the other hand if you could see a storm brewing on the horizon, trouble is near and you know what you need to do to avoid it and protect yourself. Do the sensible thing and divert around or away from the conflict.

If the sea was already choppy, you may find yourself in a turbulent situation right now, in which case, you might simply have to endure the discomfort until it passes. It’s probably not a matter of life or death but you will feel some upheaval all the same.

Along the same vein, if you were sitting in a covered building on a pier and the weather was unpleasant outside, it’s possible you have adequately shielded yourself from a problem. You are able to watch something happen but it won’t touch your life in any way. You are merely an observer to other people’s issues.

Any empty pier indicates a new beginning- are you about to start something? A new relationship? A fresh career? Move to a new location? Or perhaps the dream is hinting to you to leave your old life behind and to seek out a different one, especially if the life you lead now is making you feel unhappy.

If there were lots of boats attached to the pier you were standing on, you may be feeling burdened by someone or something. What can you rid yourself of or who can you walk away from to make you feel lighter and freer?

Finally, an unstable pier is a sign that the barrier or protector you have put in place for yourself is not substantial enough. It has weaknesses that in the right conditions could be broken or penetrated, leaving you exposed. What can you do to give yourself that extra layer of defence?

Perhaps you are being too hasty with a letter, email or text and need to think about the repercussions before you send it to the recipient. Did you write it in anger or when you were feeling upset? If so, it may be wise to take another look once these feelings have subsided or you may live to regret the words you wanted to send in the heat of the moment. If you are about to send an important document off to someone such as a dissertation to your tutor or the paperwork to finalise a house move, you may be looking over papers in your waking hours to make sure it is all up to date and accurate. Your dream could simply be a reflection of how important it is to you to get it right. If you were proofreading a document that was full of mistakes, the dream might be telling you that you aren’t ready for something quite yet. Do you need to give something more time and attention before you can go it alone? If so, be patient with yourself, you may not be at that stage yet, but you will be... to read more click HERE
