You could argue that a remake of the 1981 movie Clash of the Titans is a little unnecessary but, non the less a twenty first century CGI Laden version of the original is here.
Clash of the Titans is the ultimate struggle for power that pits men against kings and kings against gods.
But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld.
With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Neeson) and unleash hell on earth.
Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds.
Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.
As you might expect the plot and the characters all play second fiddle to the big special effect set pieces but this by no means makes it a bad movie.
Louis Leterrier has delivered an entertaining adventure movie that has enough monsters and battles to keep everyone entertained for a couple of hours.
Ok so it's perhaps not the most exciting blockbuster that we are going to see this year as Leterrier doesn't disappoint with his visual ambition.
On the whole the movie just looks great, apart from Medusa which sadly is bloody awful, put the Pegasus looks amazing!
There are some fabulously designed monsters, Jason Flemyng looking particularly fetching, back that up with some rather intense actions sequences and all in all it's a decent movie.
It's more a test of endurance and physical fitness for the actors rather than a test of their acting ability and depth but Worthington leads the cast well as Perseus who has nothing to lose.
It would have been great to see Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes just do more but Fiennes is creepily great as the evil Hades.
Now Worthington may not have been a fan of the mechanical owl, a creature from the original movie, but I was an it's a shame that it got just a passing mention rather than a fully fledged part.
Alright so the character development and depth is practically non existent, which is a major shame; particularly for Perseus and Io, but it's a great action romp that will keep you entertained right up until the credits roll.
