Audrey Tautou, who was catapulted to international stardom with the worldwide hit Amelie, plays the beautiful, scheming adventuress Irene. Irene makes a living romancing rich men, hoping that one day she’ll land herself a wealthy husband and retire. So she’s delighted to encounter Jean (Gad Elmaleh), a charming young millionaire. Except he’s not – he’s a penniless waiter, working in a grand hotel, and now he’s in love. When she discovers his lowly status, Irene beats a quick retreat. But the love-struck Jean has no intention of letting her escape, and pursues her to the Cote d’Azur.
Head over heels in love, Jean will do anything to keep Irene, and she unashamedly allows him to spend all his money on her, almost bankrupting him with her demands. On the verge of being thrown out of his hotel because of a bounced payment, he is only saved by a mature woman who takes him on as her toy boy. Quickly running out of money, Jean soon finds himself in the same business as Irene, adopting her lifestyle and setting himself up as a male gigolo.
Amused by their new equality, Irene decides to teach Jean some of the tricks of the trade: how to flirt; how to seduce and above all how to take.
