Kill Your Darlings DVD

Starring Daniel Radcliffe (Woman In Black, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2) and BAFTA Rising Star nominated Dane DeHaan (Lawless, Lincoln), the critically acclaimed Kill Your Darlings, a dark tale of poetic lust and tragedy during the beat generation, is released on DVD on the 21st April February 2014.

With a stunning directorial debut by John Krokidas, and stellar cast including Ben Foster (Lone Survivor, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints) and Jack Huston (American Hustle, Factory Girl), as well as Elizabeth Olsen (Old Boy, Silent House) Jennifer Jason Leigh (Road To Perdition, The Machinist) and Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under), Kill Your Darlings is a true story of friendship, love and murder.

Set in 1944, Kill Your Darlings follows young poet Allen Ginsberg (Radcliffe) as he steps away from the strong relationship he has with his emotionally-ill mother, to move to New York and attend Columbia University, where he embraces a new world of culture, intellect and freedom.

There, he falls under the spell of fellow student Lucien Carr (DeHaan) whom he first encounters shouting a scandalous passage from author Henry Miller on top of a table in the middle of the campus library.

They quickly form an intense relationship and together they fly into a whirlwind of daringly modern and bold ideas and attitudes, which challenge traditions. However, Carr is the unwilling love interest of the much older David Kammerer (Hall), which causes a love triangle of resent and friction.

Through Ginsberg’s friendship with Carr, Ginsberg is introduced to other aspiring writers William Burroughs (Foster) and Jack Kerouac (Huston). The four young men - the Libertine Circle take a hedonistic journey through New York on a reckless adventure rebelling against authority and experimenting with all aspects of their lives, as they pave the way for the Beat Generation of the 1950s.

Meanwhile, Kammerer is left on the outside looking in and his exclusion results in a devastatingly deadly confrontation between him and Lucien, which leads to a murder investigation that changes everyone’s lives forever.

Winner of the 2013 Venice Days International Award at the Venice International Film Festival, and officially selected at both the 2013 Sundance International Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival, Kill Your Darlings is released on Blu-ray and DVD on the 21st April 2014.

Don’t miss your chance to discover the true story of the pivotal year that sparked Ginsberg’s creative revolution, and joined together greatest poets of the beat generation.
