Lindsay Lohan is fed up with well-wishers willing her to "take care" of herself - because she's feeling better than ever.

The Mean Girls star admits friends, family and complete strangers often try to protect her after reading about her troubles in the tabloids - but she insists she can look after herself.

She tells Britain's OK! magazine, "It's weird because a lot of people who I haven't spoken to in months have sent messages: 'I hope you're taking care of yourself' and sometimes I find it a bit intrusive.

"It's like, 'I haven't spoken to you in how long, and you're just randomly writing me a note telling me to take care of myself. What do you think I am? I'm fine! I'm happy. I'm good. I'm actually in the best place I've ever been. Please, leave me be.'"

The actress is set to tell all about her life and career - she's writing her autobiography.

She is piecing together her life story for the new book, documenting her rise to fame as well as her chaotic personal life.

Speaking to OK! magazine, "I write a lot and it's very therapeutic for me because then I can see what's happening on paper.

I've started writing a book. It's going to take a while, all my life experiences. I started writing it a year ago. There's a lot to put down, you know?"
