An Irish environmental group recently criticized U2’s plans to build a multi-story hotel in Dublin, causing the group to hit back. The Rockers are insisting that the massive building will boost the city’s economy.Building heritage group An Taisce have called for a public consultation on the project - which has been labelled the U2 Tower - because of concerns about the environmental impact and the change to the skyline. The skyscraper will not require planning permission as the development is part of a massive regeneration scheme which had been given the green light by authorities.Although, negative feedback from a public consultation could force the band to get blueprints for the scheme double-checked - which would massively disrupt the multi-million dollar project.A spokesman for group members Bono and The Edge says, "It will have positive influence on the perspective of Dublin internationally and encourage further financial investment in the city centre. "It is also the intention to build Europe's most sustainable hotel in the heart of Ireland's capital. The design is environmentally as well as architecturally progressive."
