Jessica Chastain knows of David Beckham because of his racy underwear adverts.
The 'Interstellar' actress admits to lacking knowledge of British culture but says she's aware of the former England football captain because of his eye-catching adverts for H&M.
Asked about her knowledge of football - or soccer, as it's known in the US - the 37-year-old beauty told 'The Graham Norton Show': "I know you guys call it football here, I know that much. And I know who David Beckham is but that's because of his underwear ads!"
Meanwhile, Jessica - who has been in a relationship with Italian fashion executive Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo for more than two years - recently claimed she has never been interested in dating another celebrity because she wouldn't want her personal life to impact on her career.
She reflected: "You can choose not to put yourself in a situation where you could fall in love with someone who is probably not right for you.
"I never want people to be sitting in a movie theatre thinking, 'That's Jessica - she's dating so and so... We saw the first pictures of the baby...' I've seen people court all that and there's nothing wrong with it but it's not for me. I'm not in for the sprint. I hope to be like Vanessa Redgrave; I want to be 77 years old and working."
