Mother's Day on Female First

There’s nothing wrong with a bunch of flowers, but we all know that time is more valuable than anything you can buy!

So if you’re looking to spend some time with your Mum this year, rather than spending money on a gift, here are seven ideas you can do with your Mum this Mother’s Day.

Go to a spa

It’s hard work being a Mum, and we all know what the best way to relax is… A spa day!

Treat your Mum to a spa day this Mother’s Day so she can have a stress-free day. Even if it’s just a massage – it will definitely be appreciated!

If you go together it will make for some quality time to catch up, wind down, and maybe even enjoy a glass of bubbly together!

Have a baking afternoon

If you’re on a budget but still want to show your Mum how much she means to you, there are so many ways you can spend time together without having to splash the cash!

Buying in some baking ingredients and making cakes, biscuits and other goodies is a great way to spend some time together. And of course, you get to eat the sweet treats at the end!

Have a shopping day

You don’t have to spend lots of money on a shopping day – it’s just an excuse to spend some time with your Mum and get out and about.

Whether you end up window shopping or buying her lunch, spending the day at a shopping centre gives you plenty to do, with lots of time to stroll around and have a good chin wag.

Afternoon tea

If you’re feeling fancy and want to go the extra mile to make you Mum feel like a Queen, afternoon tea is the answer.

Lots of prosecco, scones and sandwiches is a classy way to do Mother’s Day. We’re sure she will approve!

Go for a walk

Enjoying the fresh air, spring weather and a bit of light exercise is all good for the mind and soul – so why not do that with your Mum this Mother’s Day?

Go to a big park with paths and lots of aesthetic surroundings – you’re sure to go home feeling refreshed, and so will she. Not to mention, it’s completely free – unless you treat her to coffee and cake afterwards!

Try something new together

We all have things we’d love to try, but sometimes life just gets in the way and months down the line we still haven’t tried out that foreign language class, or done some yoga in the park!

If you know your Mum has a new hobby on the bucket list but just never gets around to making it happen, plan a surprise afternoon for her and go with her to see what it’s all about.

Whether it’s a pottery class or a running club – you’ll have way more fun if you do it together!

Have a movie day

Or there is always the option of having a super lazy Sunday watching all your favourite movies! Get her favourite chocolates, a bottle of wine, and dust off all those films you used to watch together as a kid!

And whilst you’re at it you may as well order in your favourite take-out food. It is Mother’s Day after all, you both deserve a treat!
