As a platform, YouTube continues to evolve and offer more to both content creators and their audiences who visit. Today (November 23rd 2020), the video-sharing website have revealed their first-look trailer for their upcoming, female-focused Spotlight series. They were even kind enough to give Female First the world exclusive premiere for the trailer! Check it out below:

The YouTube Originals Spotlights franchise is to launch with three of the UK's most popular female creators, each taking centre-stage in their own intimate 20-minute documentaries.

Those of us who frequent YouTube should recognise some of the famous faces who have gotten involved; Brighton fashion designer and beauty blogger Saffron Barker (2.5 million subscribers), Leeds-based gaming and entertainment content creator Yammy (2.5 million subscribers) and comedian and spoken word artist ClickForTaz (1.4 million subscribers) all feature, and will be letting their fans in on parts of their lives that they rarely talk about.

For Yammy, that'll be in the form of introducing her family; in particular her son, Dante. The two spend some quality time together in the countryside, before filming his first ever appearance on her channel.

Taz meanwhile will be returning to her high school a decade after leaving, revisiting the difficult and emotional years she spent there, whilst inspiring the latest batch of Year 7 students with a spoken word performance. She meets some key inspirations along the way, including poet Suli Breaks and fellow YouTuber, Casey Neistat.

Finally, Saffron will be talking to members of the deaf community, investigating the issues surrounding hearing loss. Born hard of hearing herself, Saffron's childhood consisted of countless operations to restore her hearing. This is sure to be one of the most poignant projects she’s ever embarked on.

With a particular focus on the impact of coronavirus upon the issues explored, she will raise the importance of wearing transparent face masks so your lips can be read, as well as making a music video to raise further awareness and encourage conversation.

Hoping to inspire, entertain and make a statement, the films were made by Alana McVerry (Yammy), Emma Jones (Taz) and Frankie Fathers (Saffron). Anna Murphy serves as producer across the movies at the award-winning Grain Media, alongside Victoria Jaye at YouTube Originals.

Each of the three films drop exclusively on Saffron, Yammy and Taz's YouTube channels on November 30th, 2020.
