Tetris Battle

Tetris Battle

Lauren Omond from TeePee Games brings us her roundup of all things games - new discoveries, gossip and more!

Tetris Battle

Let’s face it; at some point in our lives we will all have played a game of Tetris at least once. It is without doubt the most enduring game of all time and is still playable even today in its various guises and formats. Tetris Battle is the latest offering, and is the first proper version of Tetris playable on Facebook.

Tetris Battle maintains the same basic formula of the classic game but has a heavy focus on multiplayer, with every round you play pitting you against a friend or player of a similar level.

You can choose to play a two, four or six player battle with each having a slight twist to how you approach the showdown. Players are also able to embark on Tetris Battles using maps that take the form of pre-made stages already populated with blocks. There are plenty to play, ranging from very easy to very hard.

A major upside to this game is the matchmaking system, which will always put you up against players of a similar level and experience to you, making the game much more enjoyable to play and ensures you’ll never be outmatched.

As with all Facebook games, Tetris Battle comes with leaderboards, a generous energy system, experience and cash to spend in game.

Lauren’s verdict: Tetris Battle is amazingly addictive and retains the classic Tetris action we all know and love, but throws in cool maps and multiplayer matches to mix it up. It’s the ideal game to play in short stints as well as being fun, simple and brilliant to play with friends online!

Millionaire City

Millionaire City is basically Facebook’s very own version of Sim City, the much loved city building simulation game many of us have come to adore. The goal of Millionaire City, as you can probably guess, is to build your city and earn lots of money from doing so, however there is much more to the game than that!

In Millionaire City players must build their very own city and make money by collecting rent within an allotted time.

Different properties can be built and a variety of people (families, rock stars, sports stars .etc) can move in and are offered either a short or long term lease, which in turn varies the rent to be paid by tenants.

The rent can be improved by also developing the property further, by adding decorations around the house such as trees and other objects.

Players can also build and develop their own businesses in the area as well, which generates income based on the amount of people who live in the nearby area and gives you a certain amount every few minutes. Players can also make savvy investments in their friends businesses to generate even more income and to provide their friends with a welcome cash injection.

Lauren’s verdict: Millionaire City provides the ideal escape for anyone looking to play away a few lazy hours in front of this brilliant homage to Sim City. It’s the ideal game for anyone and will appeal to the inner business person hidden in all of us! I thoroughly recommend this to everyone!

Game gossip - This week in gaming

Last month we saw the biggest ever revenue taken in one week by the games industry, beating a previous record set last year in November.

This includes the release of this year’s dreaded iteration of Call of Duty. But worry not, whilst our boyfriends/husbands play soldiers on Modern Warfare 3, we can spend a bit of time playing Tetris Battle and Millionaire City, lovely!

In other news, TeePee Games has been shortlisted highly prestigious Best Games Service Provider at the Mobile Entertainments awards, something we’re all absolutely ecstatic about. We’ve all got our fingers and toes crossed, even Gerry the Gopher. Wish us luck ladies!
