The beloved game launched back in 2000, and anyone still playing or with access to their save will be able to seamlessly transfer over all progress.

The reboot's producer Matthew Cederquist told IGN: "Yes, keep your old save files.

"Back when we were working on [the remaster], we wondered if the old save files would work, so we kind of shoved it in, and it worked!

"So yes, your local single-player save files will carry over."

Meanwhile, last month's BlizzConline 2021 event revealed the game will also feature a toggle to let gamers switch between the original title's graphics and the updated version's remastered visuals.

Meanwhile, news of the remake left some fans concerned that the original game would be discontinued, but the developers insisted the two will be completely separate, so those who are fond of the original can keep playing.

‘Diablo’ head Rod Ferguson said: “One of the things we wanted to make sure was that ‘D2’ original stayed ‘D2’ original. We were going to make sure that that game stayed there. Keeping the two games separate was a big part of that."

‘Diablo 2: Resurrected’ is set to be released later this year, and will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
