Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has revealed there are no plans for another studio to co-develop a 'Borderlands' game.

The CEO has addressed recent rumours of a collaboration and insisted the studio itself will remain the lead developer for any future games in the franchise, with no plans to change that.

He wrote on Twitter: "I am told of rumors that Gearbox is 'assisting' or 'co-developing' another Borderlands game (or a new spin-off game).

"These rumors are NOT accurate.

"Gearbox is lead dev of any future games in the Borderlands franchise (or any Borderlands adjacent games) with no co-development. (sic)

However, Pitchford revealed the team is "working on some amazing stuff" themselves and he invited people to apply to work at the studio for "the big one".

He teased: "We are definitely working on some amazing stuff that, I hope, will surprise and delight you.

"Plug: if anyone out there has Skills-To-Pay-Bills and wants to get in on some Borderlands action, we're working on the big one".

The job advert for a lead mission designer reveals the "future Gearbox project" will be an "online co-op game" with "Borderlands-style missions", but no further details have been given yet.
