Now the country is in lockdown, it’s vitally important to take care of our bodies and our minds as best we can. Here are our top suggestions to keep your body healthy and happy during your time at home:

Drink plenty: If you can’t get hold of your favourite squash or fizzy drink, now is the time to turn to the clear stuff. Keep well hydrated throughout the day, especially if you are working so you can stay focused on the tasks at hand.

And if you don't like water, why not try Dash Water*, a flavoured sparkling variety that can be delivered straight to your doorstep?

Wash often: Although it may seem tempting to forgo washing because you’re not seeing anyone, it’s crucial that you keep up the same level of personal hygiene as you did before. Not only is it good to maintain the routine but washing your hands and body regularly means you lessen the likelihood of spreading any germs to others in your household. And... remember to anti bac your hands too- you could put a bottle of Bahoma* next to your sink to remind you to have a quick pump before you leave the area.

Get exercise when and where you can: If you have a garden, do some laps, if you have some free space in your home use it for doing mat exercises, weights or while working out to an exercise video. If you have an exercise machine that you barely use, dust it off and put it into action. Don’t let the lockdown be an excuse to become a couch potato.

Move regularly: If you are working from home at a desk, it’s vital that you get up and move as much as possible. Set an alarm on your phone if you tend to lose track of time while you are working. Do something every hour, whether that is throwing in a load of washing, getting a drink, changing the bed- just make sure that you have a little task to get you out of a sitting position.

Get some fresh air: While you may not be able to go out to parks and to the seaside for your fresh air, there are other ways to. You could eat your meals in the garden if it’s fine, seek out all your children’s outdoor toys and encourage them to play in the garden as opposed to the house. Now the weather is getting better, throw open your windows and let the new air pass through your home. Hang your washing outdoors instead of putting it in the dryer or in the house and try to do more things out in the garden after working hours like cutting the lawns, weeding paths, brushing the decking or washing your garden furniture ready for the summer months.

Eat plenty of fruits and veggies: Don’t use the lockdown as a reason to survive on food from boxes and packets alone. Make sure that you are still getting your five a day or more if you can, even if they come from a tin or the freezer, they still count.

And if you want to make extra sure that you are giving your body everything it needs, you could always take a multivitamin supplement like SugarBearHair* to cover all bases.

Keep your home clean: When you spend more time at home, you inevitably create more mess, especially if you live with others which is why it’s important to keep your space clean and tidy. Keep bugs at bay by cleaning surfaces, floors, light switches and door knobs and Hoover regularly to keep the levels of dust down.

The more we take care of ourselves during this time, the less likely we are to get sick from things other than the virus which lessens the burden on the NHS.
