Catherine Zeta Jones has revealed some bizarre homegrown beauty secrets, which she uses to stay youthful.

Apparently the Welsh actress washes her hair in beer and brushes her teeth with a strawberry. If that weren't kooky enough, she also rubs honey and salt on her skin to beat wrinkles.

In a recent interview the gorgeous star revealed that her secret to preserving her youthful skin, has as much to do with what's in her kitchen cupboards, as it does with what's in her make-up bag.

She said: "I rub a mixture of honey and salt all over my body to moisturise and exfoliate. You wash it off and your skin is gorgeous. Also, I love to eat an apple after a meal, just to cleanse my teeth - they always look polished afterwards," reports the Daily Mail.

"If there aren't any apples in the fruit bowl, a strawberry will suffice. The juice or pulp of strawberries contains malic acid which serves as an astringent and can lighten surface stains. Pineapples work the same way." she explained.

Although her cheap beauty secrets are likely to delight her fans, she has revealed some drawbacks to using such simple remedies.

She added: "I smell like the bottom of a beer barrel for days afterwards but it's very good for the hair."

Despite revealing such simple beauty treatments, Catherine has been the face of Elizabeth Arden Cosmetics for seven years now, after signing a reported £5million deal in 2002.
