A tan should be natural, not like David Dickinson's!

Christmas parties are fast approaching and we all want to look our best this year. If you think it may be too late to start dieting, then why not try some of our instant inch loss methods and tips?

This week we'll be looking at everything from body wraps to simple colonic irrigation. After looking at control pants yesterday, today we'll be examining the slimming properties of fake tan.

Fake tan is not made to slim your body, that's just an added bonus. Technically it won't shave inches off your tummy or thighs but, when applied properly, it can disguise lumps and bumps and deceive eyes into thinking you look slimmer.

It sort of works in the same way that a black dress will make you look thinner than a white dress will. A natural looking, golden brown tan will slenderise your body. Natural is the key word though, you don't want a David Dickinson shade of orange.

Make sure you apply the tan properly, any streaks or missed patches will undo all your hard work.

Use a tan with colour in so that you can see where you have put it and ensure that you don't miss any bits. Also make sure you wear gloves to apply the tan, nothing is worse than bright orange palms.

Finally, it is best to use a moisturiser with tan in it which builds a gradual tan and looks natural.

Now you can flash your legs without fear of looking fat, just slap a bit of colour on!
