Kate Upton is usually picture perfect

Kate Upton was spotted in Paris Fashion Week with spotty skin, proving that even the most beautiful women in the world suffer.

The Model of the Year was pictured bare faced with angry red spots on her chin and forehead, much like many women across the world.

There are plenty of different spot remedies on the market, and as someone who still goes through bad phases with my own skin, I can test to having tried plenty of them.

Here are some of the products that I’ve tried recently which have helped to calm and treat those unsightly spots.

There are plenty of different facials on the market, this time I tried the SkinBreeze facial which combines a unique concept that uses LED Light Therapy and an Orbital Microdermabrasion skin resurfacing hand piece. The best thing is with the use of the Skinbreeze serums, this facial can be tailored specifically for your skin needs, whether you’re looking for a blemish fix, anti-ageing or under-eye brightening, to name a few.

The serums are pushed deep into the skin layer with the high pressure 02 infusion which helps give better skin results.  After this treatment I continued to use the Blemish Fix Serum which targets specific areas of the skin and helps to calm inflammation as well as treating the spots. I apply this underneath my make-up every day to specific areas and it doesn’t dry the skin and helps to treat them throughout the day.

Another treatment gel is the Medik8 BetaGel which contains salicylic acid which helps to remove dead skin cells and make way for brighter clearer skin.

This one I prefer to use at night, as you can feel it getting to work on those spots, and this sometimes feels a little uncomfortable so I wouldn’t recommend wearing it underneath make-up in case you want to remove it after a little while. Using it night though, it helps to reduce painful redness surrounding the spots and has also helped to bring out the head of the spot.

Now onto something a little more technical; the no!no! SKIN gadget not only targets spots but promises to prevent them too. Use this to speed up the healing process of breakouts with therapeutic waves of light. The best thing about this is, it doesn’t dry out the skin at all, like some spot treatments can. It’s a little pricy, RRP £129, but it’s something that will last forever and you won’t aggravate the skin by using it.

If you’re looking for something more natural, Aubrey Organics have the perfect option. Their Clarifying Therapy Clear Skin complex is formulated with 2% salicylic acid naturally sourced from willow bark extract, which breaks up oil deposits to deep clean pores from within and calm blemish prone area.  It is enhanced with nourishing sea buckthorn oil to promote skin health.  This is incredibly calming on the skin and leaves you skin clearer and calmer.

If you really struggle with soreness of your spots the Purexpert Roll-on-spot SOS is just the thing for you. The roll-on steel ball ensures you target them directly and helps to cool the skin as your apply. Pop it in the fridge before you apply and it will make everything that much better. Of course it’s got all of the ingredients we want to see in a spot treatment, but it’s the steel ball that has us reaching for this time and time again.

Murad is another go-to beauty brand for spot treatments. The Blemish spot treatment is perfect to use overnight, wake up with a spot that is basically on its way out. And their new face wipes that are specifically created for spot prone skin. Don’t use these anywhere near the eyes and use them after you’ve cleansed your skin thoroughly with a balm, gel or whatever you use. These are packed with a whole host of skin loving ingredients including Witch Hazel to control oil and tighten pores, Algae Extract to regulate excess sebum production, Grape Seed Extract and Vitamin E protect from free radical damage, Menthol soothes irritated skin and is cooling, Cucumber Extract hydrates skin and minimises skin irritations and Calendula calms inflamed blemishes. They leave your skin feeling incredibly refreshed.

Finally, once spots have come they can sometimes leave bnehind unsightly red marks that take a while to disappear. If you struggle with red marks and scars on your face from spots there are a number of different creams and treatments that can help with this.

The Kerstin Florian Correcting Intensive Renewal Glycolic 15 helps to exfoliate the skin overnight promoting a healthy glow come morning. Apply this a couple of times a week before bed, you can feel a slight tingle as the cream gets to work. The Glycolic acid helps to regenerate skin cells reducing the appearance of red marks, as well as fine lines and wrinkles too. Adding this stuff to your beauty regime will incredibly change your skin's appearance, leaving you glowing, clearer and smoother too.
