Naomi Watts at the Oscars

Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz paid up to $1,200 for a facial before the Oscars.

Some of Hollywood's finest leading ladies visited top dermatologist Dr. David Colbert in the run-up to the awards show on Sunday night (02.03.14), where they treated themselves to the costly Triad treatment, E! News is reporting.

Glowing skin is the perfect accessory for a winning look, and the stars - who also included Michelle Williams, Robin Wright and Heidi Klum - attended the skincare specialist's temporary pre-Oscar beauty clinic in Beverly Hills to make sure they were red carpet ready with a 20-minute version of his signature Triad facial.

The pricey treatment, which costs between $800 to $1,200 depending on the strength of chemical peel used, combines microdermabrasion to gently exfoliate, laser toning to help boost collagen and lavender flower acid to make skin radiant.

Colbert commented: "We offer a mini version of the Triad that's tailor made for Hollywood's Oscar red carpet."

Flawless, matte skin was a key trend on the red carpet this year, with stars including Angelina Jolie and Sandra Bullock complementing the look with a nude lip.

Dramatic make-up was also having a moment at the glittering ceremony held in Los Angeles' Dolby Digtal Theatre, with the likes of Margot Robbie sporting deep berry lips, and Olivia Wilde accentuating her feline features with winged eyeliner.

It was all about elegant updos this year, with top marks going to Maria Menounos' textured low bun incorporating a French braid and Emma Watson's tousled ponytail.
