Brigitte Bardot was the original 60s beauty icon

We're mid-way though March now and that means two things: one, it's officially spring and two, it's time to try some new make-up looks out.

Despite the 80s being the big fashion trend for this season, the 60s are a great place to take some beauty inspiration from, so why not rock out with some gorgeous glamour looks this season?

Drew Barrymore looked stunning at her recent premiere, rocking a swept back ponytail and 60s eye flicks to perfection. In fact, considering she shared the red carpet with Jennifer Aniston, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Connelly and Scarlett Johansson, it was Drew's look which impressed us most.

Pale skin, pink lips and dramatic eyes are about at 60s as you can get and teamed with a strapless black dress, complete with pink bow, our Drew is the basis for some serious beauty inspiration.

For you to get the look, think a modern day Brigitte Bardot combined with Drew's quirkiness and you'll be on the right lines to become a 60s siren.

Choose a light-reflecting foundation, which gives you even coverage and isn't too heavy on your skin, after all with the weather starting to get warmer, you don't want your face to start melting! Try using Rimmel's Recover foundation, which helps lift your skin after a heavy night of partying, £6.65.

Next focus on your eyes, as this will really sell your 60s style. Use a liquid eyeliner to master the sexy side flicks, starting right at the inner lid and sweeping out to give you some Amy Winehouse-esque flicks. Try Maybelline's Line Definer in Black, £4.99

Rimmel's sexy curves mascara will give you the dramatic false lash effect your after, and considering Sophie Ellis-Bextor is championing this product, she's another great modern day 60s icon to look to for inspiration. (Rimmel Sexy Curve Mascara, £5.82)

Your skin should remain quite pale for this trend, but not without colour as that will make you look too washed out. Dab some cream blush on your cheeks, taking care not to overdo it or you'll look like a clown. We like Bourjois Pastel Joues Blusher Rose D'or, £5.84

Lastly, turn your attention to your lips, which need to be a pale pink to complete the look. Give Rimmel's Lasting Finish Lipstick in Nude Pink, £4.20 a go.
