Alessandra Ambrosio at Coachella

Alessandra Ambrosio at Coachella

Coachella, weekend one, took place the past three days and as always it was a stylish haven that will influence our festival fashion for the rest of the year.

Again, as always, there was a huge number of celebrities at the festival, even British stars like Nick Grimshaw, Pixie Geldof, Henry Holland and Jaime Winstone made the trip to Cailfornia for some sun and music.

We've picked out some of the hottest fashion trends we saw over the three days, and expect them to be influencing our fashion picks for the festivals ahead.

Footwear

The one thing about Coachella is the sunshine, so there's no need for Wellies at this festival. Instead these are replaced with sandals, ankle boots, sneakers and in some celebrities cases heels.

Whilst I can't imagine that you're going to be wearing sandals or heels at a festival in the UK, sneakers are definitely making a fashion comeback and whether you choose one of the more stylish pairs, like the studded versions we're seeing everywhere, or something classic like Converse or Vans, these are going to be comfortable and chic.

Perfect to pair with your denim cut offs.

High Waisted Shorts

Kristen Stewart chose a pair of plain black ones for her ultra laidback look, Alessandra Ambrosio went for a pair of a neon shorts for her standout look and Julianne Hough chose a more pretty Broderie Anglaise pair for a cutesy look.

It doesn't matter what they are, just as long as you're wearing a pair of high-waisted shorts you're 'in fashion'.

Pair them with...

Bralet or Crop tops

We know that these are everywhere on the high street at the moment, and they're perfect for Festival Fashion.

Wear them with high waisted shorts or skirts just like Katy Perry this past weeked and her stunning patterned outfit.

Ireland Baldwin chose a sequinned bralet to go with her white lace shorts.

I love how chic Sophia Bush looked with her navy bralet top, which she paired with a pair of printed loose navy pants. The accessories made the outfit with the must have hand chain and leopard print ballet flats.

Of course, the denim shorts

Denim shorts and festival fashion go hand-in-hand. You can't really have one without the other and when you have a huge number of celebrities wearing them we know this trend is never going to die down.

Alessandra Ambrosio wore a pair with her gypsy-inspired look (above).

Julianne Hough also wore some on one day with a white shirt tucked into them. Pixie Geldof wore hers with a simple white t-shirt, some high-top Converse and a leopard-print cross-body bag.

Victoria's Secret Angel Behati Prinsloo went incognito with a purple wig, but we couldn't miss the beauty who chose a white crop tee with denim cut-offs, black ankle boots and a tan backpack.

Finally, jewellery

It didn't really matter exactly what it was, just as long as it was layered up.

More than one of everything was the answer to accessorising at Coachella this past weekend and that's definitely what we'll be doing this summer.
