Barbie as we know her

Barbie as we know her

A disturbing new range of jewellery has been unveiled- made from sliced body parts of a Barbie doll.

Barbie, who is a popular childhood toy has been cut up, with her breasts transformed into a necklace and her ears becoming a set of unusual earrings.

The bizarre new range has been created by New York designer Margaux Lange, who clearly saw a unique gap in the fashion market.

Eager shoppers have already snapped up some of the unusual pieces, despite the hefty price tag of some pieces costing as much as £110.

Ms Lange, 29, has said that her creations were born out of a childhood love of Barbie, the 'plastic princess'.

She said: "Barbie dolls were extremely significant in fuelling my creative life as a child. They were an invaluable tool for the expansion of my imagination then and, ironically, Barbie continues to be such for me as an adult."

"I am fascinated with who she is as a cultural icon, her distinguished celebrity status and the enormous impact she has had on our society."
