Christopher Kane

Christopher Kane

Christopher Kane took us back to the 80s for his spring/summer 2008 show at London Fashion Week yesterday.

The Scottish designer had been working around the clock to get his collection back on track after his studio was broken into just over a week ago and all his new designs were stolen.

This setback didn't seem to affect the finished show as Kane wowed the eager audience with a display of ripped jeans, steel capped heels, animal print blouses and the hint of an electric 80s colour palette.

The age of the 'power women' was given a girly twist with floaty chiffon layered skirts and dresses in lemon, leopard print and camouflage.

Kane's models were even given a treat for their feet as some of them casually sauntered down the runway in rather comfy looking trainers.

The hair and make up for the show was a little bit more scary and was inspired by the cult horror film Carrie according to wwd. The long straight shapeless hair, minimal make up and stony-faced models certainly gave that impression.

Kane's front row was unsuprisingly packed with the biggest names in fashion including Camilla al Fayed and Phillip Green- who suceeded in making 'ice queen' Anna Wintour giggle throughout the show.
