Men's fashion

Not only are they looking for fashion choice justification, one in for men are relying on their partner or mother to buy their clothes for them.

New research into the buying habits of over 1,000 men, by men’s fashion brand Jacamo, has revealed that a quarter of men get their partner to buy their clothes and one in twenty ask their mum to head out to the shops to buy them the latest clobber.

The survey revealed that more than half of fashion fuzzy fellas get the women in their lives to lay out their clothes for the next day and, when choosing their own clothes, half of men get their partner or mum to okay their outfit before they leave the house.

Steven Buchan, menswear stylist, said: “It appears the nation’s men don’t enjoy hitting the high street to get a fashion update, sending their partners or mums to tackle the big queues and unhelpful staff. The nation definitely knows what they don’t like and socks teamed with sandals scores top the list, closely followed by the ghastly tummy overhang and the major office no, white socks with a black suit and shoes.”

The Jacamo study also found that when guys are left to tango with their wardrobe one in six don’t care about how they look, throwing on any old items, and one in three chuck something on in less than two minutes. A quarter of guys ponder over an outfit for 20 minutes and one in twenty take over an hour trying to figure out what they’re going to wear that day.

On the rare occasion when shopping for themselves, one in three pick their new clothes for comfort alone and nine per cent will select their new gear in line with the latest high street trends.

Just six per cent say they enjoy clothes shopping.  The top bugbears are queuing forever for the tills, unhelpful staff, the price and the lack of choice. A further one in ten also said that the lack of clothes in their size also put them off shopping for a much needed wardrobe revamp.

Along with men’s shopping habits, the research also revealed the nation’s worst crimes against fashion.
