Luella SS09

Luella SS09

We're having a bit of a fashion revival of late, what with the 80s being back en-vogue and all, we couldn't help but notice that the 50s are having a bit of a style moment too.

More specifically, the candy stripe collections of the 50s are making a massive comeback for the summer, and we're really excited to see how people will be wearing them this time around.

Prints in general were massively popular on the catwalk this year, but Luella and Betty Jackson in particular focused on thin and thick striped wear.

Luella's collection was much more 50s inspired however and was so bright and vibrant, it was arguably one of the most critically acclaimed and popular visions back in September last year.

Celebs such as Sophie Ellis Bextor have already been spotted working this look of late and we're sure the rest of the fashion pack will soon be following.

The key to working this look is to know when you need to update your wardrobe, to incorporate some colour into it, as we're in a confusing time season wise; summer stock is already hitting the high-street, yet we're still in January.

Catwalk collections too work a season ahead, and in February we'll see them debuting their visions for autumn/winter 09. No wonder we all get a tad confused about what's in fashion when.

But summer does seem to relax us somewhat and this candy and sorbet colour trend, which is just starting to gain momentum is perfect for uplifting us from the winter blues.

So, here are a few pieces we found on the high-street to help you prepare for the summer months.
