Hussein Chalayan for Palladium Visions

Hussein Chalayan showcased his Spring Summer 13 collection 'Black Line' during Paris Fashion Week and announced the second season partnership and launch of Palladium creations for SS13.

Inspired by ‘The Occasion’ the SS13 Chalayan Ready To Wear collection celebrates the occasion of everyday life living in the city, such as attending an event or seeing an exhibit at a museum. Heightening its value and importance through Chalayan’s interpretation of prints and elegant silhouettes monumentalizes the occasion.

The ‘Hussein Chalayan for Palladium Visions’ collaboration demonstrates the metal’s potential beyond the boundaries of traditional jewellery and introduces the Palladium wig, an innovative head-piece, inspired by marble statues. The wig captures the fluidity of hair in movement that’s frozen in time through the exquisite craftsmanship of the lustrous metal.

Chalayan has also created the Palladium bracelet and a series of dresses within the SS13 Chalayan collection with Palladium inserts. The dresses, which are decorated elegantly with Palladium insert “vents” within the house designed marble print, are reflective of inhabiting a luxurious environment. The bracelet with it’s jagged leather exterior and radiant rounded metal, continues with the idea of Chalayan’s SS13 collection, by making something beautiful out of something ordinary like a building vent.

“This is my second season working with Palladium and I wanted to really explore the metal’s properties of lightness and strength to create pieces, which pushed the boundaries of material and form,” comments Chalayan.

“It was also important for me to make beautiful pieces which fit within the context of my collection this season and the head-piece, dresses and bracelet all do perfectly.”

Brad Mills, International Palladium Board Chairman comments: “We are thrilled to be working with Hussein Chalayan for a second season. He is a true visionary and innovative designer and his enthusiasm for the metal is extraordinary.”

The International Palladium Board and Hussein Chalayan collaboration is part of the ‘Palladium Visions’ campaign, which will see the International Palladium Board working with some of the world’s most visionary artists, designers and jewellers.

The International Palladium Board is dedicated to establishing palladium as the contemporary precious metal of the future. Palladium is a beautiful, lustrous white metal desired by jewellery designers for its unique features – rarity, lightness and strength. It is the most recent precious metal to be hallmarked.
