T--shirt to wear for the utilitarian trend

Bright colours

Bright colours. May seem like something a little out of your comfort zone gentlemen, but if you want to be on trend this Spring and Summer this is what you will be wearing.

During the fashion month for this season, there was certainly reason to be wearing the obligatory fashionable black sunglasses. Colour was the thing and it was bright to say the least.

Designers like Jil Sander and Louis Vuitton colour clashed tailored separates, whereas Christopher Bailey at Burberry chose muted tones of brown and camel and used citrus accessories to liven up the palette.

Chose a colour that you feel comfortable in, it doesn't matter whether they go together any more, colour clashing is stylish and almost everyone can wear it. You must avoid this look though if you don't want to get stares in the street. This trend is all about the loudness.

White Suits

This could easily end up looking like a Miami Vice re-run, so please take care when wearing a white suit.

It was mainly the jacket that was featured on the catwalks, but some designers went all out with the matching pants. White can look extremely stylish, just make sure that you buy a tailored suit to fit you perfectly, anything too big on the shoulders will take you right back to the 80's.

This look must be avoided though for the office. It should be worn on the weekend, and you should most probably steer clear of red wine when wearing it. Or maybe all together if you have a tendency to spill things down you.

The best place to pick up this look will be from the designers themselves, as they'll have the best quality and the right cut to make it look perfect. Look to Hermes, Etro, Gucci and Gianfranco Ferré  for the best high end.

One thing to remember is to never roll up your sleeves.

School boy prep

The white suits carried on to the theme of school boy prep. Just look at the Thom Browne collection to see what I'm talking about. His catwalk show started with the models wearing space suits and then they undressed to reveal their school boy outfits.

Blazers, knee length shorts and knee high socks, taking you right back to the good, old school days. Carrying on from the winter trend of patterned suits, stripes, checks and gingham are the way forward for this look.

Try not to don this look from head-to-toe though, some things should just be kept on the catwalk. Shorts are great in the summer, obviously keep you cooler and still have the fashionable twist on them. Keep away from the knee high socks, nobody over the age of eight should wear those things. Instead wear the shorts with brogues and loafers which will give you a soft edge to the look.

Also, anybody who wears a jumper over the shoulders looks awful. So avoid at all costs. Other than that, own the trend and let your inner child come out. You know you want to.

Utilitarian

Pack your bags men, you are going on a trip.

Designers showcased men wearing clothing with an utilitarian twist, something you can wear to hike through the rain forests.

The colours and the style hinted at all things natural and the light materials used means that you won't build up a sweat in the resounding heat.

Netted vests, sleeveless jackets and tops and shorts flooded onto the catwalks. Plenty of pockets mean that you can carry everything needed for a walk through the Andes.

Designers Richard Chai and Tomas Maier at Bottega Veneta sent the models down the runway wearing sandals and socks. Yes this may be high fashion, but please do not carry out these instructions at home. It will look anything but stylish, avoid at all cost.

The high street already has hints for the trend and I'm pretty sure more will follow when they get rid of the sales and bring in the new lines. Keep a look out for sleeveless jackets, they will be the must have for everyone.
