Sex And The City: The Movie

Sex And The City: The Movie

If ever a film was lead by its fashion then it's this one. Sex and the City: The Movie built on the success of the original hit TV show and took it to the next level, with every major designer in the world taking part in this fashion extravaganza.

When the series ended four years ago, we were all left with a sizable fashion void in our lives, which just couldn't seem to be filled by many of the younger or arguably copycat shows that the network through at us.

So we all rejoiced when they announced a movie version was to be made, featuring all the original cast and adding a few new ones in for good measure.

Patricia Field was once again at the helm of things all fashionable and was charged with taking our fabulous foursome into their forties, while still looking effortlessly chic, stylish and still on the cusp of all things a little bit crazy.

Pictures of Carrie in a giant scrunchie, a feather bird hat and a range of couture bridal wear all emerged from the set to wet our appetite, and when the movie finally was released, Field did not disappoint.

Perhaps Carrie and co. were more coordinated in the film as opposed to the TV series, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing at all. We were treated to maxi dresses, Halloween outfits, wedding couture and in some cases, the fashionable debut of granny pants!

The essence of the original Sex and the City still remained intact too; Carrie still loved her Manolos, Miranda was still a power dresser, Charlotte was still a Park Avenue Princess and Samantha still had the most colourful wardrobe of the lot of them.

Designers galore lined up to offer pieces for the movie, with Vivienne Westwood, Dior, Zac Posen and Galliano all getting arguably the best screen time in the entire film.

If that weren't enough, the inclusion of a Vogue photoshoot meant getting approval from the terrifying Anna Wintour, who luckily was all for the idea of some major publicity.

She even offered the services of Editor-at-large André Leon Talley, who personally oversaw the shoot and had background shots of legendary photographer, Patrick Demarchelier.

The film was undoubtedly a triumph in every way possible and with rumours of a sequel still floating about, just imagine how fabulously fashionable our girls will be in their fifties!
