Summer Trend: Clashing Oranges and Purples

Summer Trend: Clashing Oranges and Purples

The clashing colour trend has had people divided all season and it's not hard to see why. Ever since Cheryl Cole stepped out at the US X Factor audition in an orange and purple ensemble (and THAT turquoise belt) we thought she had lost her pretty little mind - but turns out, orange and purple are the colours to clash this season.

Next was Kim Kardashian who was spotted in a Diane Von Furstenburg dress and Jessica Alba in a custom made pregnancy maxi by the same name. All these girls cannot be wrong and so we have hunted the highstreet to find you the best of the best when it comes to purple and orange outfits.

The only question left to ask yourself is...which are you brave enough to try?

These orange palazzo trousers from Republic are a great summer find. They are light weight and perfect for the dodgy British weather and great for throwing in the suitcase if you're going away.

If you're not sure about going all out orange and purple just quite yet, then why not start off with a white blouse and purple accessories to help you get the feel for the trend? Available for £22.99.

If you're ready to take on the clashing trend then go straight in with this purple boob tube top from River Island for £10. It hits the 70s spot but also means that you can show off a little toned flesh if you fancy this season. Why work hard throughout the year if you can't show it once in a while?

A hat is a great way to inject a little bright colour into your summer outfit. If clashing isn't for you then use a colourful hat as a statement piece for the outfit and maybe match either bag or shoes with it. If you're going all out clash then just wear as and when you fancy it. Available from Miss Selfridge £15.

These Dune shoes are winners for keeping up the retro clashing trend. If you're wearing a maxi or even palazzo trousers, some chunky sandal heels add some depth and volume right to the tip of an outfit. £85.

If you're standing out this summer then it should be for all the right reasons. Having an orange maxi skirt is great, but a fitted maxi skirt is even better. Show of your curves with one like this from TopShop for £22.75 and you'll be turning heads everywhere you go.

If you needed any more proof that this combination works, look, they make the combi already for you...throw on this top with some denim shorts and wedges and you're summer ready and good to go. Avilable from River Island £19.99.
